ABOUT THIS PROJECT

SEARCH+RESQ collaborated with artist Forest Stearns to create a sculptural installation for Google's Quantum Labs in Santa Barbara, California. Designed for the building's central staircase, the project brings painting, sculpture, and architecture together as one continuous composition.

Inspired by the movement and energy of Forest's expressive mural, SEARCH+RESQ designed and fabricated a series of laser-cut sculptural forms that appear to unfold from the painted surface, extending the artwork into three-dimensional space.

As visitors move through the staircase, shifting light and perspective continually reveal new moments of depth and discovery. The installation unfolds with every step, inviting a deeper appreciation for the relationship between art, architecture, and movement.
