TATSU RAMEN NYC
Laser-Etched Architectural Mural
Creative Direction + Design + Fabrication + Project Management

SEARCH+RESQ collaborated with Tatsu Ramen to create a large-scale laser-etched aluminum mural for the brand’s New York restaurant. The artwork depicts three samurai battling a dragon whose tail transforms into flowing ramen noodles—turning the restaurant’s playful visual language into an immersive architectural feature.

Spanning approximately 10 × 30 feet, the mural is composed of forty-five individually fabricated blackened aluminum panels. More than 100 hours of laser etching were required to translate the illustration across the installation, bringing together artwork, material, technology, and precision fabrication at an architectural scale.

As the project evolved, SEARCH+RESQ’s role expanded from specialty fabrication into full project management—overseeing panel development, prototyping, fabrication, laser etching, logistics, and installation coordination from Los Angeles to New York.

The collaboration continued beyond the mural with the design of custom point-of-sale enclosures for Tatsu Ramen locations in New York and Los Angeles, extending the visual language of the project into functional objects throughout the restaurant experience.
