ABOUT THIS PROJECT

SEARCH+RESQ collaborated with Make Architecture to develop a custom laser-etched feature wall for a modern wine bar in Hollywood, transforming a simple architectural surface into a refined visual element within the space.

The project began with the architects exploring new ways to introduce texture and pattern into the interior through material experimentation. Inspired by an abstract field of dots, SEARCH+RESQ translated the graphic concept into a custom laser-etched finish applied to Formica laminate panels, creating a subtle yet dynamic backdrop that enhanced the bar's contemporary aesthetic.

With a demanding one-month production schedule ahead of the restaurant opening, SEARCH+RESQ quickly developed a series of material prototypes to refine the engraving process, depth, and finish before moving into full fabrication. Through close collaboration with the design team, the approved process was scaled into a complete architectural installation.

The finished feature wall spans approximately 10 feet high by 40 feet wide and is composed of forty-five custom fabricated panels measuring 24 x 36 inches. The completed installation demonstrates how thoughtful material exploration and digital fabrication can transform everyday surfaces into distinctive architectural experiences.
